This graphic is based on chapter 1 of Daniel Kahneman’s book titled “Thinking, fast and slow”. Daniel Kahneman is a noble laureate in Economics and this book is about cognitive science.
System 1 and System 2 are two modes in which human brain thinks. This is how Daniel describes them:
“System 1 operates automatically and quickly, with little or no effort and no sense of voluntary control.
System 2 allocates attention to the effortful mental activities that demand it, including complex computations.”
